What are DL's thoughts on Reversal of Fortune? I just purchased the Blu Ray.
Was Claus von Bulow guilty? How do you feel about the beautiful Sunny becoming a vegetable? Should Alan Dershowitz get disbarred?
The film looks promising with Barbet Schroeder directing and a cast that includes Jeremy Irons, Glenn Close, Ron Silver, Julie Hagerty, Fisher Stevens, and Christine Baranski.

Was Glenn campaigned in lead or supporting?

"I made him hire you. 'Get the Jew,' I said."

She spends most of the movie in a coma, R4. No way could she have campaigned as a lead.

She was top billed though

Not to derail the thread, but I've discovered that Andrea Reynolds died back in 2016. In case you were like me and wondered.

Jesus, OP. Did you just wake up from a coma? Tell us about the Bon Jovi album you just bought on CD.

DL fave Victoria Winters was the other woman. I remember reading the book and being shocked to find out that juicy detail, which I don’t remember being discussed much in the media coverage.

Surprised it was nominated for best director because the Sunny flashback scenes (exquisite) feel like a different movie than the courtroom stuff.

I bought a blu-ray movie today as well. The Age of Innocence, how dare that I did not have that in my library.

Jeremy Irons met the real Claus a few years after the release of the film.
Claus asked him if he was aware that the Alan Dershowitz was (at the time) representing Leona Helmsley and Mike Tyson. Irons replied that he was aware of that, to which Claus quipped: "I don't suppose you've been asked to play either of them, have you?"
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 25, 2024 1:50 AM |
Irons could play Helmsley convincingly
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 25, 2024 1:57 AM |
The scenes depicting Dershowitz as an heroic mensch were cheesy and unconvincing.

I read that Glenn was campaigned as lead for Reversal. That same year she was pushed as supporting for Hamlet. Neither came thru.

Julie Hagerty should have been a much bigger star.

Annabella Sciorra (who plays Dershowitz’s wife) was always so lovely. A few years later she’d be at the peak of her promise, only to have an assault by Harvey Weinstein derail her career and mental health.

LOVED the film

Yes he did it- Sunny’s home in Newport was not dark and kind of Firhis. It was very light- more of a villa than a house.

Felicity Huffman is very good as the law student who is blinded by her sense of righteousness while arguing with Alan Dershowitz, but boy, does that scene play much differently now than it did just a few years ago.

OP, I love you for buying this old, mediocre movie. I just bought the Blu of Bloodline and I couldn't relate more.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 25, 2024 6:34 AM |
Dershowitz is a piece of shit. Jeffrey Epstein's best buddy
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 25, 2024 6:37 AM |
Well made & acted, but, it's attempt to make Alan Dirtbag into some sort of folk hero is disgusting.

Sunny and Klaus are dead. End of story.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 25, 2024 11:08 AM |
Klaus did it and got away with it mostly because of the notoriously corrupt/incompetent Rhode Island courts.
As mentioned above, Clarendon Court is nothing like the scary dark house in the film.
And Sunny was very different in real life.

I liked it too.

1990 was the last year of Glenn's hot streak. She had a few movie hits here and there since but not consistent streaks
