❄️ First Snow Day of the School Year Predictions

Fashion for juniors! Since we are almost at the end of our high school journey, it's about time to step up in your style game. Fashion isn't all about wearing trendy outfits- it's about how you express yourself, being comfortable, and feeling confident in your own skin. Here is a guide to help you stand out from the crowd, find your vibe, and expand your taste in fashion for your junior year!

Define your style

Your style reflects you. Whether you're into girly style, vintage vibes, sporty looks, or edgy streetwear, take as much time to figure out what best fits you. Don't be afraid to mix things up! Try out different styles, play around with color and material, find a combination of things that make you feel great. Check out fashion influencers and check out magazines for inspiration.

Wardrobe Essentials

While mixing it up and having fun, a few staple items will help keep your wardrobe accomplished. Here are some must-haves:

  • Basic Tees and Tanks: go for neutral colors like white, black, and nude colors (tan, beige, and off-white)

  • Sneakers or Boots: A comfortable pair of everyday sneakers is essential for a calm clean outfit. And some boots for when you want to add an eye catch to an outfit and dress things up a bit.

  • Hoodies and sweaters: Find a hoodie that best fits you. A graphic hoodie or a plain hoodie. Sweaters are for layering. You can throw a sweater on with a tank top and crop the sweater.

Play with Layers

Layers are a game-changer, especially for high school students, where one classroom may be colder than the next. Try pairing a cardigan sweater with a tee. Or a tee under an oversized flannel. The trick with fashion is to mix textures and colors.

Accessorize smartly

Accessorizing can elevate a simple outfit. A nice belt, or hat, or a necklace can add personality to your look without effort. Experiment with different bracelets, and bags. Don't go too overboard with accessories. A few go a long way

2024 Trends

This year a few fun trends that are making their way into high school fashion are..

  • Baggy Everything: From cargo pants to oversized jackets, comfy and roomy set pieces are in.

  • Chunky sneakers: The ‘dad shoe’ tread is still going strong.

  • Athleisure: From joggers to hoodies, athletic-inspired clothing is here to stay. Mix in casual pieces for a laid-back yet stylish look.

What's new, what's popular, what I'm playing and more...

Tavin Hochmuth Class of 2026

Call of Duty Black Ops 6

Better than most recent releases but may not be as popular are the original releases #1 and #2 and includes a good campaign.

Hell Divers 2

From what I've read and seen my early rating will be a 7/10 for this game based on reviews. It's a game based on completing orders by capturing areas and shooting aliens and robots from other worlds.

Mass Effect

this game is a few year old but still a great game overall to play. If you llike open world games or alien shooter games you should check this out.

Check Out All the Library Has to Offer

The library has more than just books for students to borrow. If you need equipment for a class project or presentation, you can check out tools like a Snowball microphone for recording podcasts or a Bluetooth microphone that connects to your iPhone.

There are also headphones, Chromebook chargers, and computer mice available to make studying a little easier. Want to read digitally? Borrow a Kindle to access thousands of books in one place.

These are just a few of the helpful items the library has beyond books. If there’s something else you think the library should lend, stop by and let Ms. Flaherty know, or send her an email—she’s always looking for new ways to help students with their schoolwork.

And yes, you can still check out books, too. Come see what’s new this year.

In media, all you really hear about are the skills position players, and most of the jerseys you see out in public are the people scoring the touchdowns. But one thing you never see is a post praising a teams offensive line. When’s the last time you saw a right guards jersey not being worn by them? Today I’m going to be talking about the big dogs in the trenches for the Millbury Woolies, because they are the ones doing all of the dirty work, and they have played a huge role in our success this season.

The offensive line is possibly the most important position on the field. Without them, no plays would be able to develop, and no runs would be able to get positive yards. This season, our varsity team averages 166 rushing yards per game. No shade to Sergio Hernandez, who has been playing great, but a big reason behind that number is our blockers. Our quarterback, Matteus Mateo, has only thrown 3 picks so far this year. Not to discredit this stat for him, but our line makes it so he has enough time to make these good passes that he makes. 3 out of 4 of our captains are lineman, with Aiden Dubois starting at left tackle, Dylan Curran starting at center, and Abdul Bangura starting at defensive tackle. Aiden has recently committed to play division 1 football at Stonehill college, and is arguably our best player on the roster. Abdul is great on defense, and you wouldn’t expect him to be a lineman looking at him, but he is so good at it. Dylan is only a junior, but his leadership and knowledge for the game helps big time, on top of his excellent playing skills.

We will be losing a bunch of our guys this year, having 3 out of 5 of our starters being seniors, but we have some great young talent who can step up and succeed. Connor Nieminen and Lucas Jean, who are both juniors, are playing very well for our jv team right now, and Zach Boucher, whose only a sophomore, is going to be great for us in the future.

We have done very well this season, and entering playoffs, it’s not looking like anything is going to change. Everyone is playing very good, and we are making some huge plays. Although you might not see it happening, just remember that none of those big plays could’ve happened without our line. Next time you are praising a football team, remember to show a little love to the boys in the trenches.

After writing about them for all of last season, they completed the goal for last year. After all of these years of going to the eastern conference finals, we won. It’s kind of perfect that the year I started writing, they won their first championship in 16 years. I was lucky enough to be there for the last game, and it was the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced. The atmosphere in the Garden was insane, and when Pritchard hit the buzzer beater, everyone lost it. Everyone felt together in that moment, because basically everyone in the stadium wanted the same thing to happen. I put a picture I took below.

We just looked unstoppable, and nothing changed with our team, except some people have fire in there belly. Tatum is upset and proving himself after not winning finals MVP and being forced to ride pine this summer on team USA. Jaylen Brown did win finals MVP, but has something to prove after all of his American teammates in the starting 5 made team USA over him. On top of that, we have some young players who have developed and are hoping to make more of an impact. Payton Pritchard is in serious contention for 6th man of the year, and he could genuinely be a solid starter in the league for a different team. Sam Hauser and Luke Kornet seem like legitimate back ups instead of final minute in win type of guys. I’m excited to see our young guys like Walsh and Queta play this year, they seem like they are solid and have some good potential to develop.

At the time I'm writing this, we are currently 4-0, and we just look like we have an unfair advantage against other teams. In our first game we made the Knicks, who everyone thought would be our biggest competition, look sorry. Tatum played like an MVP, everyone else stepped up, and we played great everywhere. Our next two games were easy, although the Pistons wouldn’t give up without a fight, and then our game against the Bucks the other day was really good. They were also supposedly our biggest competition, and we beat them by double digits. I truly don’t see a world where we don’t win over 60 games, and also can’t envision anyone in the east giving us trouble when it comes to the post season.

As were about three weeks into the NBA season this is my prediction for awards, standings and playoffs. The NBA is stacked this season with teams like the Thunder, Nuggets, Timberwolves, Warriors, Mavericks, in the Western Conference and the Celtics, Cavaliers, Magic, Pacers, and Knicks from the Eastern Conference. The East isn't as strong as the west obviously but there are still some real good teams. Let's look deeper at some teams from the East and West. As of right now the Cavaliers are looking very good as they are undefeated so they could be a real threat in this year's playoffs. The Warriors are looking for a redemption season as their 9-2. Another dangerous team from the west is the Thunder. Although they have one of the youngest rosters they have a lot of talent.

Who will win MVP? Jayson Tatum from the Boston Celtics is on a revenge season after he got benched in the Olympics. He also is chasing that 2nd ring so he is looking solid and so is his stats. Anthony Davis is looking very good this season averaging over 30 points and 10 rebounds. And of course Nikola Jokic will always be in the MVP talk just because of his creativity he has when he plays and of course the triple doubles. But when it comes down to it I think Jayson Tatum will bring Boston the first MVP since the Larry Bird era. Now rookie of the year I think will be Zach Edey the 7 '4 center from the grizzlies. He has shown really good potential and excels around the rim with scoring, rebounding and blocks. He has also shown some skill with 3pt shooting. I think he could be a real threat behind the arc and will be rookie of the year. Now defensive player of the year I don't think it's much of a discussion. It's Victor Wembanyama. He is just an incredible rebounder blocker and is good at stealing the ball. There's no one who can really compete with him for this award. Now sixth man of the year. There are some good candidates for this award like buddy hield, benedict matherin, tree man but i'm going with another Celtics Payton Pritchard. His 3pt shot has looked incredible this season he's averaging 3.9 threes a game and is shooting 41% percent form three and this is all from off the bench. He's a key role in this Celtics team and will win sixth man of the year. Now finally the most improved player. I think there are some good players who have and will continue to make a big leap from last year but Victor Webanyama will take the leap to get this award.

Now for the top 3 best teams in the west and east at the end of the season. In the Western Conference the number 1 seed will be the Thunder with 60 wins and 22 losses. The second seed will be the Dallas Mavericks with 57 wins and 25 losses. The third seed will be the Minnesota Timberwolves with 55 wins and 27 losses. Now in the eastern conference the number 1 seed will be the Boston Celtics with 61 wins and 21 losses. The second seed will be the cavaliers with 57 wins and 25 losses and finally the third seed will be the Knicks with 52 wins and 30 losses.

Who will make the NBA Finals in the 2024-2025 season?. It will be a hard road for both of these teams to get there but it will be a rematch of the 2022 season between the Boston Celtics and the Golden state warriors. It will be an interesting matchup with Steph Curry trying to get his 5th ring and Tatum looking for his 2nd but the Celtics will go back to back to win the series 4-2. Jayson Tatum will take the finals MVP averaging 33 points. That is my full NBA season and finals prediction for the 2024-2025 NBA season.

What The Boston Red Sox need to do to be serious contenders in the upcoming season

By: Jacob Grenache Class of 2028

After the Red Sox's disappointing end of the 2024 season, I think there is a lot of good to come to This organization in the up and coming years, Even though the Red Sox had one of the best records in the first half of the season the second half was a struggle, But going into next season with a good young team with stars like Jaren Duran, Cedane Raffealla And Rafael Devers. Jarren Duran put up a historic number this season; even better is to come in the upcoming years. The Red Sox also have some of the biggest prospects in triple consisting of Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Kristain Campbell, and Kyle Teel Who are all ranked highly so if you add these guys to an already good young roster I think the Red Sox could be one of the best teams. I do not believe the Red Sox need to go after too many guys but they need pitchers badly That is their biggest need for the Red Sox if they could pick up a few solid pitchers I think the Red Sox could be serious contenders in the years to come.

What should everyone check out at least once?

Most people think of music as a form of entertainment, or something to listen to when you're bored, working or in the car. But for me, Music is much bigger than that. Sure I am a big fan of jamming out to music while driving, or when I’m outside doing yard work, but as a person who has a very diverse range of music, from 60s folk to 80s hair bands, 90s grunge to even country today I think music means a lot to me in the sense of history and listening to people's perspective on what they have experienced in the life. From the ideas of love, hope, freedom, overcoming hardship, unity or even strength there is a song out there for everyone.

Here is a list of 10 albums, not in order I think everyone should listen to.

  1. Blood on the Tracks-Bob Dylan

  2. Graceland-Paul Simon

  3. Joshua Tree-U2

  4. Tea for the Tillerman-Cat Stevens

  5. The Dock of the Bay-Otis Redding

  6. In Dreams-Roy Orbison

  7. Life and Times-Jim Croce

  8. Every Picture tells a story-Rod Stewart

  9. Slowhand-Eric Clapton

  10. Brothers in Arms-Dire Straits

This year in the NFL, there have been many surprisingly bad teams who had high hopes before the season started. Some teams have looked competitive but still lost, while others have looked flat out bad. There have been many causes for some teams' downfalls, such as injuries, player disputes, or bad management, but with the pieces they have, the following teams should not be as bad as they are. Every season always brings it’s predictions, and so far, these teams have underperformed them and look weak in the rankings.

#1: Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys fans, like always, said that it was “their year” and that the Cowboys and Dak Prescott were locks for the postseason. They couldn’t have been more wrong. Starting the season 3-2, the team didn’t look too bad. It was on track with their expectations, and being above .500 on the season when it’s early is always good. The Cowboys then proceeded to get decimated by the Lions on their home turf, 47-9. Since then, they have rung off 3 straight losses, with their most recent being a game in their division against the Eagles in which they fell 34-6. This game seems to have sealed the Cowboy’s season, once again getting blown out at AT&T Stadium. Jerry Jones looks as bad as ever in his GM position, choosing not to have the stadium blocking the sun, even though Ceedee Lamb dropped a wide open touchdown pass because he couldn’t see. The Cowboys have to make some kind of change this season, especially with 2 other teams in their own division looking like contenders. Everyone likes to joke how the Cowboys always think that the season will result in their long awaited 6th Super Bowl, but with the way things look, they might as well be competing for the highest draft pick they can get.

#2: New York Jets

Last season, the Jets began hopefully with Aaron Rodgers. 4 snaps later, Rodgers' season was over. This season, Rodgers was back in full, giving the Jets’s fans a possibility of seeing their team be true contenders for the first time since Brady came into the league. 10 games through, the Jets sit at 3-7 and look terrible. From weeks 4-8, the Jets didn’t record a single win, dropping 5 straight. Their offense has looked rough, even with Rodgers linking up to his old Green Bay teammate Davante Adams. They simply have not been able to put up enough points so far and are one of only a few teams that are yet to score 25+ points in a game this season. The Jets haven’t been much of a contender throughout recent years, but thought they could be working towards something big. The Jets’ failures so far look even worse when you look at the Detroit Lions, currently arguably the best team in the entire NFL. Only 3 years ago, the Lions were sitting dead last in the NFC North at 3-13-1. Dan Campbell’s squad has had a much nicer overhaul than the Jets, but this could be a sign of how quickly the team could turn around if they do it right. Either way, the team doesn’t look anywhere near where it should be this season.

#3: Chicago Bears

The Bears are not as much of a failure this season as the 2 previous teams, but they haven’t lived up to expectations this season. Selecting Caleb Williams first overall in the most recent draft was meant to save their franchise from recent years of struggle. So far, Williams has been heavily outperformed by the quarterback the Bears could have had, Jayden Daniels, who went 2nd overall to the Washington Commanders. The Bears are currently 4-5, and being in the NFC North this season certainly doesn’t help. All 3 other teams have a winning record and throughout the next 8 games, the Bears have to play NFC North opponents 6 times. In order for the Bears to get back to a respectable record, they have to run through the gauntlet of opponents they are facing for the rest of the year. Along with the division rivals, the Bears also face the 49ers and Seahawks. Neither of these teams are as scary as the other 3, but they can still both be strong units who can certainly play past a weak looking Bears squad. Williams hasn’t had horrible play so far and it is his rookie season, meaning he is allowed some slack, but it hasn’t looked incredible for the USC QB. His counterpart Jayden Daniels was viewed as slightly worse in the draft, but has led the Washington Commanders to a strong 7-3 record, looking like one of the most unexpectedly good teams of this season. Bears fans can’t give up on Williams midway through his rookie season, but it’s hard for them to accept who they could’ve had thus far. The Bears outlook for the future certainly isn’t bad, but the future was meant to be now. They were projected to be quite a feared team, but they might have to wait for later years if they continue at this rate.

Music plays a massive role in shaping our daily experiences, influencing our mood, productivity, and social interactions. From the time we wake up to the time we fall asleep, music can serve as a powerful tool to enhance our emotional well-being. Whether it’s the energizing rhythm of a morning playlist or the calming melodies that help us unwind at night, music can shift our mindset and provide comfort, motivation, or relaxation. Research has shown that certain types of music can trigger the release of dopamine, the brain’s “feel-good” chemical, helping us manage stress and improve overall happiness.

Music has become an essential companion for many people at work fostering creativity, focus, and efficiency. While some may find silence most conducive to concentration, others thrive with background music, especially instrumental genres like classical or ambient. Music with a steady tempo can affect how well we function, making tasks feel more relaxed and less nerve-racking. Furthermore, music can catalyze team bonding and collaboration, creating a positive atmosphere in shared spaces or during group activities.

Music also strengthens our connections with others, whether through experiences like concerts and festivals or personalized playlists shared among friends and family. It serves as a universal language, bridging gaps between people all around. The songs we listen to often reflect our identities, express our emotions, and provide a sense of belonging. As a form of self-expression, music offers an outlet for creativity and emotional release, while also helping us relate to and empathize with others. In this way, music becomes a very important piece of our daily lives, creating routines and bringing people closer together.
