Behind bars, trio of thugs who killed woman in car attack (2025)

A drug dealer and his two accomplices have been told they face ‘significant’ jail sentences for killing a woman in a deadly car attack.

Arslan Sajid, 24, drove a Mercedes which hit a vehicle driven by Amy Rose Wilson, 27, in Falkirk, in July 2023.

Jurors at the High Court in Edinburgh saw CCTV footage of Sajid driving just a few yards behind the car which Ms Wilson was travelling in with her partner Ryan Paterson, 23.

Sajid and his associates Andrew Gregoire, 29, and Anthony Davidson, 32 had earlier confronted the duo in the town’s Foundry Street.

It came a short time after Sajid accused Ms Wilson and Mr Paterson had stolen five kilos of cannabis which belonged to him.

Sajid and his associates, all from London, followed Ms Wilson and her partner from a car park in Cumbernauld to the Stirlingshire town.

The court heard how the three men smashed the windows of her car, shouting: ‘You’re f****** dead’.

She drove away at speed in a bid to get away from them. Sajid then pursued her car and struck it, causing it to spin into another car, killing Ms Wilson.

Sajid then tried to evade being arrested for the violent attacks by fleeing to Pakistan.

Yesterday jurors found the trio, who stood trial on a charge of murdering Ms Wilson, guilty of the lesser offence of culpable homicide.

The three men were also accused of the attempted murder of Mr Paterson but were found guilty of severely assaulting him to the danger of his life.

Along with a fourth man, Steven Hornsby, 55, - the trio were also convicted of a charge of conspiring to rob people of drugs money in locations across the country.

Judge Lady Drummond said: ‘These are very serious offences to which you have been convicted of and with your records they will no doubt result in significant custodial sentences being imposed upon you.’

During proceedings, the court heard Sajid say he and his accomplices had travelled from Dagenham in Essex with 10 kilos of cannabis to sell to a Glasgow based dealer.

Sajid told Prosecutor Alan Cameron that the Scottish dealer, who he didn’t name, told him he was only going to buy half the cannnabis and sell the other five for them.

Sajid then said that a buyer was found and the handover was going to take place in the car park of a branch of B&Q in Cumbernauld.

The court heard that Sajid expected that he would receive £17,000 but the cash was not handed over.

The court heard evidence that the car containing the drugs - a Vauxhall Vectra - was being driven by Amy Rose Wilson.

He said he then followed the car to Falkirk at which point three masked men got out of the Mercedes and smashed the windows of Ms Wilson’s car.

Sajid then followed the car as it made off. He said: ‘I clipped the Vectra. It spun out into the other lane.’

He added that he kept driving as he ‘didn’t appreciate how serious the incident was’.

Mr Paterson told jurors that he suffered a ’mental breakdown’ and has post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression.

Gregoire laughed in the dock after learning of the jury’s verdicts. He also gave a thumbs up sign to family members who were sitting in the public benches.

Mr Cameron told Lady Drummond that Sajid had previous convictions for road traffic offences and cannabis possessions.

He said Gregoire had served a 42 month jail term in 2020 for producing cannabis.

Hornsby had been given an 86 month long jail term in 2017 for attempted robbery whilst Davidson had also served six years for attempted robbery.

The four men will be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on May 1 2025.

Following the verdict, Detective Superintendent Susan Balfour said: ‘Davidson, Gregoire and Sajid went to extreme lengths plotting a robbery, travelling from the south of England to carry out the attack in Scotland. “Their subsequent actions were entirely reckless, resulting in her death. They then, along with Hornsby, took further measures to try and evade responsibility for their crimes.’
